at camp green lake stanley was very jubilant that zero dug his hole for him.quickly stanley came to thank zero for digging his hole.zero wanted to be taught how to write.however stanley said he would not.

In chapter 22, Stanley and Zero made a deal. Zero would dig Stanley’s hole for an hour each day if Stanley taught Zero to read and write for an hour each day. Later, Zero would ascend and Stanley would become a very close friend. That night as Stanley was lying in bed he remembered the gold tube he found, and recognized it as a top to lipstick, Stanley had seen it in his mom’s bathroom and in the Warden’s cupboard. Therefore, the initials stand for Kate Barlow.

stanley taught zero how to read and write. in the tent stanley taught zero how to wright he was having some trouble but he sounded like he was good at math. therefore stanley is going to have a hard time teaching him.

In chapter 22, Stanley made a deal with Zero. Stanley remembers his reluctant answer to Zero so when he realized that Zero dug his hole for him, he said yes to teaching him. The deal was that Zero would dig Stanley's hole and Stanley would teach him how to read and write. Since Stanley was not as tired from digging, he taught zero how to read and write everyday. Furthermore, Stanley and Zero became good friends and to Stanley's surprise, Zero was very good with numbers as he figured out how long it would take for him to learn the alphabet. That night, Stanley remembered the gold tube he found and recognized it in his mom's make-up box. He also remembered it in the Wardens make-up box. It was the lipstick tube with the initials KB, Kate Barlow.
